Franklin Academy’s Student Council is a group of middle school students that have either been elected or appointed in the fall. Every member serves on one of the following committees; For Citizenship Development, the students have worked closely with our guidance counselor Ms. Rios to assist with Bolt Bucks, incentives, anti-bullying presentations as well as other future events/presentations. Faculty and Staff Relations has decorated and made little gifts to make our teachers and staff feel speech such as; decorating the work room for Thanksgiving and winter and giving every staff member a Kit Kat bar that says, “You deserve a break.” Fundraising helps oversee ways to earn money to help pay for supplies and leadership field trips and conventions such as; Otis Spunkmeyer cookie dough sales, Birthday Goodie Bags, and tickets/snack packs for the upcoming talent show. School Spirit has helped set up for pep rallies and are currently working on Franklin’s first annual talent show as well as brainstorming ideas for the future. Service Committee has volunteered time to help by reading and crafting at the book fair, assisting at the school’s holiday shop, and are currently collecting socks to donate to a local homeless shelter. Once a month members get to attend county/district meetings to collaborate with other middle/high school Student Councils. They have formal Robert’s Rule of Order meetings, teambuilding, and guest speakers with the main message dealing with an aspect of leadership.
